The red and blue LED lights emit soft light, and the Chinese herbal medicine seedlings underneath are growing well. "Plants need photosynthesis to grow, but in a relatively closed space, plants can grow vigorously, which is inseparable from these red and blue LED lights." Pan Yueming, the general manager of the company, introduced that blue light has a more obvious effect on the synthesis of chlorophyll, and red light promotes flowering and maturity, including the synthesis and conversion of sugars.



It is understood that the wavelength of light required for plant photosynthesis is 400 to 700 nanometers, which is red light and blue light. In May this year, the base and Fujian Agricultural University conducted a school-enterprise cooperation "spectral planting" to study LED lights that can promote plant production. More than 200,000 yuan was invested to build a greenhouse for cultivating medicinal seedlings.


"'Spectral planting' can promote the growth rate of seedlings, inhibit some bacteria and pests that are harmful to seedlings, and avoid pesticides. For example, it takes four months to cultivate seedlings of Patchouli in the field, but it only takes 20 days to complete seedling cultivation through spectral planting." According to Pan Yueming, because the planting cycle of seedlings is shortened, pests and diseases can be isolated, the survival rate of seedlings is higher, and the income is higher. Take Anoectochilus roxburghii as an example. If it is planted in the field, the lodging rate reaches 30%-40%, while through spectral planting, the lodging rate is only about 10%. At present, the base has successfully cultivated seedlings of Anoectochilus roxburghii, Dendrobium officinale, Patchouli roxburghii, etc. through spectral planting, and applied them in field planting.
